“I always thought I hated sales but I realized I just hated rushing relationships.”
I heard this today and it hits on the reason I have always felt I didn’t like sales.
To me, sales always meant putting your needs above the person you are talking to.
That no matter what that person says, your agenda to sell is the same. I see a lot of posts complaining about sales people messaging on Linkedin.
I bet there are others like me who don’t have a problem with people reaching out via messages, but when the relationship feels rushed, we don’t feel seen or heard.
That rushed feeling is negative and associated with being ‘salesy’.
Also, the robotic cut and paste messages don’t help.
